Assistant Project Manager

The primary role of an assistant project manager is to assist the Project Manager to plan, execute, and finalize the Project according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver the Project according to plan. You will also assist the Project Manager to define the Project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Responsibilities are (but not limited to) assist the Project Manager in/to:

  1. Plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager
  2. Process contract drawings and specifications and ensure that the Project is built in accordance with these documents
  3. Ensure that the contract drawings are the same as the estimate set of drawings
  4. Process changes received from the Client and/or Consultant(s) including contacting the subcontractor for pricing, checking subcontractor quotations to ensure that they are complete and reasonable, and itemizing changes and presenting them to the Client with confidence that the pricing is in accordance with the changes
  5. Monitor, in conjunction with the Project and/or Construction Manager, a project’s material and labour costs and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted
  6. Be aware of unit costs and monitor and compare daily progress on site with that of the project’s estimate in conjunction with the Project and/or Construction Manager
  7. Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for Client, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings
  8. Conduct project meetings, bi-weekly or monthly as needed
  9. Coordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labour, schedule and payment disputes
  10. Ensure that the project is in a positive cash flow position and prepare Project Manager Reports accurately and timely for submission to the Client
  11. Instill a positive working relationship with the Client and Consultant(s) to ensure repeat business
